Churches react to suspension of resettling unaccompanied child refugees.

In a joint letter to the Home Secretary, the leaders of the United Reformed, Methodist and Baptist churches, together with the Church of Scotland and the Quakers, have expressed their concern at the Government’s announcement that it intends to suspend the programme for the safe re-settlement of unaccompanied minors seeking refuge in the United Kingdom.

The programme was introduced in May 2016 following Parliamentary approval  of an amendment proposed by Lord Dubs. It is expected suspension of the programme will place many more child refugees at substantial ris.
